Straight answers to the questions we hear most.

What kind of site is Semestelo?

Semestelo is a free educational education grant information website from The Nelson M Group LLC. It explains the basics in plain language.

Can you pick a program for me?

No. We do not recommend, rank or match you with schools or programs, and nobody pays us to mention them.

How do I opt out of texts?

Reply STOP at any time to opt out; reply HELP if you need help. Email [email protected] if you would rather write.

Do I have to give a phone number, email or ZIP code?

No. Your email address, mobile number and ZIP code are all optional. A first name, a last name, your topic and the privacy agreement are all we need.

Is Semestelo part of a school or a government program?

No. Semestelo is an independent website with no connection to any school or government program. We only explain how such programs are generally described.

Will you text me all the time?

Message frequency varies and runs up to about 8 a month. Message and data rates may apply.

Will schools or lenders see what I submit?

No. What you send stays with us and is not sold, rented or passed to schools, lenders, scholarship services or other partners. You can see exactly what we collect in the Privacy Policy.

Do I need to opt in to text messages?

No. You are only texted if you tick a box yourself, and there is one unchecked box to choose from. Leaving it blank is fine.

How much money can I expect?

We cannot say. Offers depend on the program, the school and your own circumstances, and only they can give you a number.

Who runs Semestelo, and is it a school, grant program or lender?

No. Semestelo does not give out money, make loans or process applications, and the guides should not be read as financial, legal or admissions advice.

How do I stop emails?

Write to [email protected] or use the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any email.

What happens after I sign up?

A first guide on your chosen topic by email (only if you give one), and, if you ask for them, short texts that link back to the same guides.

Do you accept grant applications?

No. Apply through the program itself, your state higher-education agency, or your school’s financial aid office.

Will you tell me what aid I will get?

No. Only the school and the awarding agencies can say. The notes explain how to read what they send.

Class is open whenever you are.

Free, educational, and you can stop any time.
